Emotions are temporary, but the regret that comes from hurting other people is permanent. We can sit with discomfort or sorrow or disappointment for a while without having to fix it. The best course of action to take when we’re feeling hurt is often to do nothing. [read more]

Out of all the books you’ve written, which was your favourite to write, and why?
Among Heroes. Those two guys are so snarky with each other. It’s exactly my sense of humor. There’s one sex scene in particular where they spend half of it laughing, and I was laughing right along with them. [read more]
Stories That Make You Smile
How do you select the names of your characters?
Through a long, painstaking process that involves moaning to my friends and sudden renames in the middle of a book. Finding the perfect character name is so important but so hard, and men are the worst. There are thousands of great women’s names, but men only have about six to choose from and I’ve already used most of them. Eventually I’m going to have to stop writing M/M because I will have run out. [read more]

If you were approached to have your book made into a film, who would you cast?
Unknowns. Don’t we ever get tired of seeing the same six actors? Unfortunately, Mac and Hailey are both white, so there’s no opportunity for diversity there, but the rest of the cast is super diverse, and maybe we could get some guys who’re publicly out to play Mac and Hailey. Having worked in theater for a lot of years, I suspect way more Hollywood actors are gay than we realize, but it’d be nice to reward those who’re brave enough to go public. [read more]
